Dubble Bubble Gum

Dubble Bubble Gum

by Mike Pitzer, 2023

I chewed a ton of Dubble Bubble Gum when I plaid for the Dodgers in the Algonac Little League at the old Lions Clubhouse Field. I think I started playing when I was 10 or 11. Aside from chewing Dubble Bubble, I remember Brian Wilson reaching up and grabbing the baseball I’d just slammed as it was about to go over the centerfield fence. That would have been my first homer. The next was during practice and the coach told me to lean into the pitch and not to back away. He hit me squarely in the eye with his next pitch and laughed saying, “I didn’t say you couldn’t duck.”

Go Dodgers!
