Croquet Ball No.1

Croquet Ball No.1

by Mike Pitzer, 2018

My parents belonged to a social group called Club Apache. It was basically the guys my Dad grew up with, their wives and all of the kids everyone was popping out. Back then, everyone was fairly strapped for money, so getting together at some place like our house on the river was an inexpensive way to BBQ some hotdogs, drink a few Black Labels, eat Lay’s potato chips from a 3-gallon can, go swimming, throw horse shoes and play croquet.
