Paw Paw Vintage Fishing Lure

Paw Paw Vintage Fishing Lure

by Mike Pitzer, 2019

Growing up in Algonac, Michigan, we lived on the St. Clair River with a dock that ran 150 feet out from our front yard. We’d swim in the summer, skate in the winter, and fish every chance we could from this dock.

This is a Paw Paw Lure, circa 1950-ish from the Paw Paw Bait Company. Every once in a while, I’d find a wooden plug or a plastic lure all tangled up in seaweed. That’s where I found this one. It washed up along our seawall and I plucked it out and cleaned it up the best I could.

I first showed this at the Allied Arts Association of Cambria in December 2019.Show
